New Delhi: JSW MG Motor India reported an 8% Y-o-Y decline in retail sales at 4,588 units in September 2024, compared to 5,003 units sold in the same month last year.
The company announced that its new energy vehicles (NEVs) accounted for 49% of its total sales in September 2024. This significant share highlights the growing impact of NEVs on the company’s overall sales figures.
Vaahan Portal for sales reporting
Starting October 2024, the company will begin using the Vaahan Portal for its sales reporting, marking a new operational chapter.
While the company has been consistently reporting its retail sales numbers from the commencement of its India operations, the move to Vaahan is a natural consequence of the maturation and consistency of these numbers over time, the company stated in a media release.
The automotive industry has been navigating some sales challenges due to the inauspicious period of Shraadh and an extended monsoon. Despite these hurdles, JSW MG Motor India remains optimistic, the company added.
With the onset of the festive season, the carmaker is optimistic about positive traction in the market and an uptick in footfalls at its dealerships. The company expects the festive season to bring increased customer engagement and improved sales performance.
Increasing NEV share
The company reported retail sales of 4571 units in August 2024, 35% of those sales were from new energy vehicles (NEVs).
In July 2024, JSW MG Motor India reported retail sales of 4572 units. More than 35% of those sales were from NEVs.
In September 2024, the share of NEVs increased to 49%.
